Tom Battles the Sharks and BungoBox Wins
At the Orlando Inc’s B.I.G. Summit on Nov. 10, hundreds of business innovators flocked to Full Sail University. And our fearless leader, Tom Cannon, CEO and cofounder of BungoBox took center stage during a mock episode of ABC’s hit show Shark Tank, which gives budding entrepreneurs the chance to pitch their products to a panel of acclaimed judges in hopes of turning their ideas into a successful business reality. Tom competed against two other great businesses and came out on top. Tom got a once in a lifetime opportunity as his prize. Tom was able to spend valuable one-on-one time with Kevin Harrington.
One of the “Sharks,” Kevin Harrington, chairman and founder of TVGoods, Inc., is known as a pioneer and principal architect of the infomercial industry. In 1984, he produced one of the industry’s first 30-minute infomercials. Since then, he has been involved with more than 500 product launches that resulted in sales of over $4 billion worldwide with 20 products that reached individual sales of over $100 million.

BungoBox launches its 11th franchise location
Orlando, Fla. (Oct. 3, 2011) - BungoBox, a plastic moving-box rental company, has awarded a new BungoBox franchise in Charlotte, N.C., which will provide service to Mecklenburg, Cabarrus, Union and Caston counties.
BungoBox rents the reusable plastic bins to save consumers time and money over traditional moving methods. The concept is simple: A BungoBox truck delivers the stackable moving boxes (a large box of about 2.5 cubic feet rents for $1.75 a week) to a customer’s doorstep. Once they’ve been unpacked, BungoBox picks them up at the new residence.
Jim Amendum, Charlotte BungoBox franchisee, is a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and worked as an educator prior to joining the BungoBox team.
“BungoBox fills a void in the moving industry,” Amendum says. “Our bins provide a moving alternative to cardboard that is sturdier, easier to use and cheaper.” With plans to open its doors in December 2011, Amendum says his focus is on great customer service.
Co-founders Tom and Bob Cannon, who run the BungoBox headquarters in Orlando, launched the franchise option in late 2010 and have awarded franchises in Florida in Gainesville, Jacksonville, South Florida, Tallahassee, Tampa, and in Atlanta, Ga; Phoenix, Ariz., Halifax, Nova Scotia and Edmonton, Alberta.

Moving Guru - Cures "tequila hangover" of new home ownership.
I realize that the iPad contest has long since passed and I am about as far from Canada as one can get in this country without getting their feet wet, however I wanted to ‘put it out there’ just how fine an experience I recently had with the local BungoBox group here in Orlando…
It had been 10 years since I last moved and that experience was enough to put off the prospect of a repeat performance for several decades … expensive, false promises, delivery delayed for more than a week, crushed cardboard boxes, etc … just an all around bad experience … call it ‘the tequila hangover of new home ownership’, if you will.
In almost all aspects, I did not want the same experience this go around. I heard about BungoBox, the concept made sense, so I called them up. I found professionalism and helpful advice from the get go. Ward became my ‘moving guru’ … we discussed my needs, my timetable (it was a bit unusual) and my budget. It was effortless; although I was not able to convince him that he should drop by to pack all my stuff … I was going for Sherpa, but guru worked out just fine.
Even when my timetable for my move-in changed, the Orlando BungoBox team was at the top of their game and worked with me, leaving the stress behind. If anyone deserves a new iPad for a job well done, my vote goes to Ward and the Orlando BungoBox folks.
Kudos,
ROYAL R.
BungoBox Canada opens its doors in Halifax
Our first franchise in Canada is now officially open; and there's plenty more where that came from. The plan is to open 20 to 40 franchise locations across Canada over the next two years in places like Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Toronto and parts of Quebec.
With that said, we think this calls for a celebration; and by that we mean a contest. We are giving away an iPad2 to the person who submits the worst moving story. For details about the contest, visit the BungoBox Canada Facebook page. Story submissions can be sent to bungoboxcanada@gmail.com. Contest ends Aug. 25. For more information about BungoBox Canada, located at 200 Bluewater Road, Unit 1, Bedford, NS, visit the company’s recently launched website at bungobox.ca. Or call 855-BUNGOBX.
Retired? Move in Style!
RETIRED
Usually focused on a location that is quiet and peaceful, with nice scenery, and a low crime rate. Their main concerns are:
WEATHER :
Individuals getting ready to retire, especially those who have lived in cold places their whole lives, are usually ready to put their snow shovels away for good. Weather is one of the top reasons that the elderly are likely to choose one destination over the other. By doing a little bit of research, you can easily find out the trending weather data on any location for the past few years. It is almost always safest to pick somewhere located near water
TRAFFIC :
We often think of retirement as the serene, peaceful time of life. Therefore, on your search for a new home, try to avoid cities that have become overcrowded. Because you have the leisure of not needing to be located close to a metropolis for work, you can pick somewhere with more isolation or just with less people in general. No one wants to be stuck in rush hour on a casual trip to the grocery store.
CAMARADERIE :
It is important to find fellowship with other retirees in your new destination. Find out what types of activities are offered around your prospective destinations based on your interests. Perhaps, you want to pick somewhere that offers a wide selection of crafting, painting or other art related classes and clubs. Maybe, you have always been into ball room dancing; look to see if they are any open studios in the area.

What a recent customer had to say….
Thank you again for everything!
I packed everything in less than 2 hours, drove to the new house, unpacked and stacked the boxes next to the door for pick-up as I went. I didn’t have the hassle of having to use tape or cardboard getting wet, no issues at all. Trust me I have already bragged about how much it is worth it to use BungoBoxes for a move, especially when you unpack as quickly as I do. Everything I needed to keep packed, I just used the couple of plastic bins I already had.

BungoBox awards first franchise
Orlando, Fla. – (Feb. 28, 2011) – BungoBox, an Orlando-based company which rents reusable plastic boxes to save consumers time and money over traditional moving methods, has opened its first franchise location, which will serve Pasco, Pinellas, Hillsborough and Hernando counties.
BungoBox launched the franchise option in late 2010, and co-founders Tom and Bob Cannon were overwhelmed when they received more than 100 franchise applications. The Orlando-based company plans to award two more franchises in the next few months.
“We designed our concept from the very beginning with franchising in mind,” says Tom. “Every aspect was carefully implemented to ensure maximum efficiencies and profitability for our franchisees.”
BungoBox franchisees Greg and Jennifer Steinig had previous careers as a therapeutic sales representative for a large pharmaceutical company and as an ultrasound technologist respectively. The husband and wife team have purchased two territories in the greater Tampa market. Those territories include exclusive rights to Pasco, Pinellas, Hillsborough and Hernando counties, an area made up of more than 2 million residents.
“We are excited about serving the greater Tampa Bay area with a family-owned business that makes people’s lives easier, keeps more money in their pocket and is good for the environment,” Greg says. “By investing in this business, we are investing in our community and keeping unnecessary waste out of our landfills. At the end of the day, that is extremely rewarding.”
The Tampa franchise will begin operations in April 2011.
“Part of our plan includes expanding operations by opening 20 to 50 franchise locations in the next three to five years as part of a steady and strategic growth strategy,” says Cannon.

Cardboard Shuffle - Great Efforts Showcase Severity of Problem
This is an awesome video showcasing the problem associated with cardboard moving boxes.
I applaud the efforts of the students, staff and volunteers. I can also appreciate all the hard work that goes into diverting cardboard waste from landfills. However, we all now that the majority of moving boxes never get recycled. And although recycling is better than waste, it is certainly not better than reuse. BungoBox solves all of the problems outlined in this video, with much less effort, much less waste and much less expense. BungoBox does make moving less sucky.
The Power of Story: Sharing Your Story Using Social Media
Most people have an extreme aversion to the moving process. Learn how social media has successfully helped BungoBox set out to change all that and make moving a lot more tolerable at the Florida Public Relations Association – Orlando Area Chapter’s February 24, 2011 meeting featuring Mark A Carbone, founder and CEO of XE Corporation. Mark will share social media best practices through dialogue with one of his clients, Tom Cannon, co-founder and CEO of BungoBox, who is committed to helping consumers save time and money with an eco-friendly alternative to cardboard boxes.
Agenda:
The duo will share the BungoBox social media case study as well as provide tips that add value without adding more “to-dos” and expenses. Mark will also reveal the "Start Stop Formula" for success in social media. He'll end with a bonus section discussing the future of social business in 2011 and who will be the winners and losers.
Location:
The event will take place on Thursday, February 24 at the University Club, located at 150 E Central Blvd., Orlando 32801. Registration and buffet breakfast will begin at 8 a.m. and the presentation will begin at 8:30 a.m. Cost is $15 for members, $20 for non-members and $10 for students.
