Don't Break Your Back While Moving!

Bungobox knows moving can be a very stressful time. It can become even more stressful if you injure yourself in the process. Therefore, we have created a list of precautions everyone should take to ensure that you do not injure yourself while in the process of moving.

Think of moving, especially lifting boxes, like any other exercise-- you must stretch first if you really would like to prevent any damage to your body from happening. You should definitely stretch your arms, legs, and back since those will be the parts of the body that will be used the most while lifting. Check out this site for ways to stretch these parts of your body for a move.

There are many ways to lifting boxes, however many people tend to do it wrong. The proper way to lift a box to keep yourself injury free is to:

  • Bend at the knees, not the waist.
  • Keep the object you're lifting close to your body.
  • Do not twist your body.
  • Avoid lifting things over your head.
  • Position legs apart.
  • Get a good grip and lift with the legs, not the back.
  • When moving something, push rather than pull.
  • Keep your footing secure.
  • Lift smoothly and slowly; do not jerk.
  • Use a dolly to carry objects when possible.

The main key to lifting a box is to put more pressure on your legs over your back so as not to strain your back. Hand carts should become your best friend when moving because they not only make moving many boxes at once easier, but it also alleviates the stress on your body since you are not carrying boxes, just pushing them. If you can, avoid lifting at all costs.

Other ways to prevent injury while moving is to wear gloves when lifting heavier objects, especially furniture, so you have a better grip and the object does not fall out of your hands. Also, do not forget to bring plenty of water to keep from becoming dehydrated and if it is possible to move during the morning or early in the day that is also a wise move too because that will prevent you from overheating or tiring out quickly. It would also be wise to have a First-Aid kit handy just in case someone does get a cut or a minor bruise.

Bungobox is all about making moving as little about stress as possible. We do not want something that can be prevented like an injury or strain to your body to effect your move one bit, so take caution when lifting boxes during your move and remember these tips; you will not regret it once your all moved in with no issues.

Another Win for BungoBox: 44% Cheaper Than Target

The fight against cardboard continues on here at BungoBox. We are constantly striving to not only offer the most environmentally friendly way to move but to also provide the best price. We know that moving is never fun, so our team works around the clock to make it easiest as possible. But, don't just take it from us! We have hit the streets once again talking to you, the customers, about how BungoBox is holding up against our competitors. Remember our friends the Johnsons and all of the money they saved with BungoBox? They're back, but this time their oldest daughter Lisa is the one preparing for a move.

#1. Meet Lisa Johnson, UCF Student

She has decided to move out of her dorm in Lake Claire for the upcoming Spring semester. Her parents have agreed to let her move home to save money.

She has been living in a 4/2 with 3 other girls. Her bedroom will need to be completely packed up along with her belongings in the living room and kitchen.

#2. Her Move

Between Lisa's car and her parents van, she will not need to hire a moving service to help transport her things. However, she still needs to find moving boxes to pack up all of her belongings. Being computer savvy, she decides to order her boxes online.

Initially, she assumes Target will provide the cheapest moving kit. But, once she visits their site, she is shocked by the high price. $75.00 just for a bunch of cardboard?

Her roommate suggests she check out Staples because they usually offer fair prices. However, Lisa still can't believe they are asking $66.00 just for cardboard boxes.

Ah ha! She decides to check out a website that specializes in moving boxes, they have got to offer a cheaper price. After a quick google search for "cheap moving boxes" she arrives at http://www.moveout.com.

Lisa is happy with their price of only $52. She calls her mom before purchasing the boxes though, just to make sure it's safe to order off of an off-brand website. When she tells her mom about her research and http://www.moveout.com, her mom suggests she check one last place before making a decision. Lisa's mom educates her about BungoBox, a new company that provides reusable, stackable plastic boxes.

#3. BungoBox For the Win

Lisa is sure that the website her mom referred her to will be more expensive, considering the durability and convenience of their product. But once she checks out their package for a one room move, she sees they are actually the most cost effective option!

With their easy online order option, Lisa is able to schedule the delivery and pick up of the boxes for the upcoming weekend!

BungoBox Wins Again: 70% Cheaper Than U-Haul

Frequently when our customers first find out about BungoBox, they can't believe our boxes are cheaper than cardboard. After all, they are already more environmentally friendly, easier to use and more durable than cardboard. How could they possibly be cheaper too? So, we decided to do a little experiment using our favorite fictional family, the Johnsons. We’re confident you’ll be calling us to perform at your kid’s next birthday party after this one, because to provide prices this low, we must be magicians!

Check out how BungoBox saved the day once again in the story of the Johnsons and their move.

#1. Meet the Johnsons

They are relocating from Windermere, Florida to Kissimmee, Florida. This is about a 40 minute move

They currently live in a 3 bedroom/ 2 bathroom home.

#2. Their Move

They have already decided on their moving company, but now they need to find moving boxes. Mrs. Johnson loves to get the most bang for her buck, so she decides to do a little research.

First, she visits www.uhaul.com. This seems a little steep, she thinks.

Maybe, OfficeMax can provide a better price for her. She will need at least 3 of these one room kits, possibly 4 (little Johnny does have quite the collection of hot wheels). Even with just 3 moving kits, the estimated price is $218.97.

Mrs. Johnson is very smart though, so she doesn’t stop there. Deciding to do a Google search, she types “cheap cardboard boxes”. She is then directed to www.usedcardboardboxes.com.

She is about to settle for their price of $199.00 when Mr. Johnson arrives home from work with great news! One of his co-workers has told him about a great new company, BungoBox. He tells her that this company provides re-usable, plastic boxes (which is great because the Johnsons are very environmentally friendly).

#3. BungoBox Takes the Win

When she checks out the website, www.bungobox.com, she is surprised to find that she does not have to worry about packing tape or box cutters and they even offer dollies!

BungoBox provides everything she needs for just $105.00. Looks like the Johnsons found their winner!

What Can You Fit in a BungoBox?

When you watch the video below, you might wonder for a minute if the guys at BungoBox are physicists that have created black holes in the form of moving boxes. Or maybe they are magicians that have created boxes with a false bottom?

While both are great ideas, consider BungoBoxes a combination of the above – with a science and magic all their own.

How Big are They?

There are two different sizes of BungoBoxes.

  • Large BungoBox (L): these boxes are 2.5 cubic feet and are 27” long x 17” wide x 12” high.
  • Extra Large BungoBox (XL): these boxes are 3.8 cubic feet and are 28” long x 20” wide x 15” high.

(Also available is the BungoWardrobe – a convienent way to move your clothing straight from closet-to-closet, while still on the hangers! To hear what customers have to say about BungoWardrobes, go here)

So What Can Fit?

Below are the guidelines for what each box can hold. However, as you can see from the video, mix and matching items can also allow you to use up every last inch of the box and pack a lot of stuff in!

  • Large BungoBox: One large BungoBox can hold approximately 15 pairs of men’s jeans and 26 men’s t-shirts or 15 pots and pans of various sizes.
  • Extra Large BungoBox: One extra large BungoBox can hold approximately 12 towels and 3-5 sets of sheets.

How to Pack Your BungoBoxes

You've already taken the first step to ensure that this move will be your easiest yet by choosing BungoBox and set your mind at ease that you haven't chopped down a forest to move your belongings!

What's next? Packing them of course! While BungoBoxes are very easy to use, we can still share a few tips with you to make it even easier.

1. Lighten Your Load:

Use moving as a time to purge. Do not pack things you do not use or that are no longer needed in your life. Have a moving sale about a month before you move, then you can use that money to help pay for your move. For everything you don’t sell, donate those items to charity and get the tax write offs.

2. Plan Your Staycation:

Pack up your family as if you’re going on vacation for a few days. This will make your life a lot easier the first few days in the new home.

3. Roll & Pack:

Using BungoWheels, roll a stack of 4 empty BungoBoxes into the room you are packing. Remove all the BungoBoxes from the BungoWheels except one; now begin to pack that box. Once it is full, close the lids and place an empty box on top and repeat. Once you have packed and stacked 4 or 5 boxes, roll them to your staging area and organize by how you want the truck to be loaded.

4. The Box Ruler:

Unlike traditional moving boxes, where you have to put very heavy items like books in a small box or it will crush, you can get by with the Large BungoBox for 90% of your items. Just pack your box as full as you like, let weight be the judge and close the lid. You never have to worry about your boxes crushing or the bottom falling out again.

5. Don’t Forget Your Name Tags:

Use the labels provided to keep track of what is in each box. Place the labels on the ends of the boxes so that you can see what is in each box when it is stacked. Use the BungoBox tracking sheet to keep tabs on all your boxes and the contents.

6. Last = First:

Place one or two boxes in each room and label those boxes. Place items in these boxes that you will need right up until moving day. Then you know when you get the new place these boxes will be opened first so that you can get to your most important items right away.

7. Use what Ya Got:

Save on packing materials by using towels, socks and T-Shirts as filler on your most fragile items (just make sure you save a few towels and sheets to use for your first few days in the new place). If you need some help here, be sure to order recycled and recyclable BungoWrap with your boxes.

8. Don’t Break Your Back:

BungoBoxes are strong and will hold as much as you can put in them. It is true that you don’t have to lift them very often, but you may occasionally; therefore try to keep the weight of each box below 50 pounds.

9. Packaging Tape:

Uh… For what?

Following these tips (as well as using BungoBoxes instead of cardboard) should help you cut your packing time by at least 50%.

If you have any tried and true packing tips – share them below!
